Ingredients
- 300 g all-purpose flour
- 60 g granulated sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 220 g unsalted butter (cold)
- 110 g cold water
- 1 kg apples (Pink Lady, Royal Gala, or Fuji)
- 75 g unsalted butter (for filling)
- 190 g brown sugar
- 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- 1¼ tbsp cornstarch
- Vanilla ice cream (or preferred flavor)
Instructions
- Prepare the pie crust by mixing flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Add cold butter and blend until crumbly. Gradually mix in cold water until dough forms. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
- For the filling, peel and slice apples. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat, then add sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and water. Cook until apples are tender but firm.
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Roll out dough for bottom crust and place it in a pie dish. Fill with apple mixture, then cover with rolled-out top crust and seal edges.
- Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape. Bake for about 80 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving warm slices topped with scoops of vanilla ice cream.
