  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 220 g unsalted butter (cold)
  • 110 g cold water
  • 1 kg apples (Pink Lady, Royal Gala, or Fuji)
  • 75 g unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 190 g brown sugar
  • 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1¼ tbsp cornstarch
  • Vanilla ice cream (or preferred flavor)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pie crust by mixing flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Add cold butter and blend until crumbly. Gradually mix in cold water until dough forms. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
  2. For the filling, peel and slice apples. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat, then add sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and water. Cook until apples are tender but firm.
  3. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Roll out dough for bottom crust and place it in a pie dish. Fill with apple mixture, then cover with rolled-out top crust and seal edges.
  4. Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape. Bake for about 80 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm slices topped with scoops of vanilla ice cream.
