- 1 tsp Special Occasion spice mix (or pumpkin spice mix)
- 3/4 cup softened butter
- 2 eggs (room temperature)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3.5 oz candied citrus peel
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for coating)
Instructions
- Soak raisins and currants in boiling water until plump; drain.
- Activate yeast by mixing it with lukewarm milk and sugar; wait until frothy.
- Combine flour, ground almonds,Special Occasion spice mix, and remaining sugar in a bowl.
- Add activated yeast mixture, butter, eggs, and vanilla to dry ingredients; mix until combined.
- Fold in drained fruits and candied peel.
- Knead dough until smooth; allow to rise for 1–2 hours in a warm place covered with a damp cloth.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C); shape dough into small balls on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden; cool slightly before rolling in powdered sugar.
