  • 2 tablespoons unsulphured molasses
  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cloves
  • Icing and sprinkles (for decorating)

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer, beat the room-temperature butter with both sugars and salts until light and fluffy. Add the egg and molasses; mix until combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and spices. Gradually add to the wet mixture while mixing on low speed until just combined.
  3. Chill dough for at least 2 hours. Roll out to ⅜-inch thick on parchment paper.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and cut dough into desired shapes. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges darken slightly.
  5. Cool on racks and decorate as desired.
