  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup baking soda
  • 1 egg (for wash, optional)

Instructions

  1. 1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit until foamy for about 5 minutes. Add salt and gradually mix in flour until a dough forms.
  2. 2. Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. 3. Let It Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm area until doubled (about 1 hour).
  4. 4. Shape the Pretzel Bites: Punch down the risen dough, divide it into small pieces, and roll each into balls.
  5. 5. Boil & Bake: Boil water mixed with baking soda. Boil each pretzel bite for 30 seconds, then drain and arrange on parchment-lined baking sheets.
  6. 6. Bake & Serve: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Brush with egg wash if desired and bake for about 12 minutes until golden. Serve warm.
