- 8 oz cremini mushrooms
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup Gruyère cheese
- 1 large egg (or cream/milk for brushing)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt unsalted butter and olive oil. Sauté chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent.
- Add sliced mushrooms, thyme, salt, and pepper; cook until tender. Remove from heat.
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, Parmesan, Gruyère cheese, and optional Dijon mustard. Fold in sautéed mushroom mixture.
- Roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle; cut slits along both sides for braiding.
- Spoon the filling into the center of the pastry and braid by folding strips over alternately.
- Brush with egg wash and bake for 20–22 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before slicing; garnish with fresh parsley.
