Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 large apples (chopped finely)
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp butter (for topping)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for topping)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (for topping)
  • 2 Tbsp butter (for glaze)
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
  • 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 11×7 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In one bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, cream softened butter with both sugars until smooth, then add eggs, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  3. Gradually incorporate the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, followed by folding in the chopped apples.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth out the top. Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. For the topping, melt butter with brown sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a saucepan; set aside.
  6. Prepare the maple glaze by whisking melted butter, maple syrup, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until smooth.
  7. After baking, drizzle the topping over warm blondies followed by the maple glaze once slightly cooled before cutting into bars.
