  • 1 pound jumbo shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves (chopped)
  • 1 tsp minced jalapeño
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Optional: 2 tsp tequila

Instructions

  1. Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, combine olive oil, garlic, jalapeño, brown sugar, smoked paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and pepper; blend until smooth.
  3. Marinate shrimp in the mixture for 2 to 3 hours in the refrigerator.
  4. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and oil the grates.
  5. Thread shrimp onto skewers and grill for about 3 to 4 minutes per side until opaque.
  6. Serve immediately with fresh lime wedges and garnish with cilantro.
