  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 12 ounces tomato paste
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 large egg
  • Fresh basil or parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with chopped onion and minced garlic until onions are translucent. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and seasonings; simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
  5. In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella cheese repeatedly until ingredients are used.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes until bubbly.
  7. Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
