Ingredients

  • 2 tsp loose-leaf smoky black tea (or 2 tea bags)
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 45 black peppercorns
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 3 green cardamom pods (slightly crushed)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 12 tablespoons brown sugar (to taste)
  • 1 star anise (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add black peppercorns, cloves, cardamom pods, and cinnamon stick. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the smoky black tea to the pot and steep for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in milk and brown sugar; simmer on low heat for another 3-4 minutes.
