Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups uncooked sushi rice
- 2 cups water
- 2 teaspoons toasted black sesame seeds
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons fruit vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Nori sheets (for serving)
Instructions
- Rinse sushi rice under cold water until clear. Cook with water in a rice cooker or stovetop pot according to instructions.
- Once cooked, mix in sesame seeds and sesame oil. Allow to cool until manageable.
- Wet hands and shape about 1/2 cup of rice into triangular balls.
- Combine soy sauce, fruit vinegar, and sugar in a bowl until dissolved.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and grill onigiri until golden brown on all sides (about 2-3 minutes each).
- Brush with the soy mixture for caramelization, then serve wrapped in nori or with dipping sauces.
