  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (divided)
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 tbsp instant dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Powdered sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk slightly and combine it with 1/2 cup softened butter in a mixing bowl until melted. Allow to cool before adding eggs and mix well.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together bread flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients until combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Mix remaining softened butter with brown sugar and cinnamon to create the filling.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle, spread the filling evenly, cut into strips, twist each strip, and braid them together.
  6. Place on a lined baking sheet, brush with beaten egg wash, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.
