  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk (for brushing)
  • 1/2 cup chopped strawberries (for glaze)
  • 1 tbsp white sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In another bowl, mix buttermilk, vanilla extract, and egg. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently.
  5. Fold in chopped strawberries; if too wet, add a little more flour.
  6. Shape dough into an 8-inch circle on a floured surface and chill for 30 minutes.
  7. Cut into triangles and place on the baking sheet; brush with milk.
  8. Bake for 13-15 minutes until golden brown; cool before glazing.
